So, I travel to Prussia for two days and what happens? My old mucker Paul Duane (pictured above with friend) only gets named one of Variety magazine’s “10 Directors to Watch”. He’s up there with, among others, the very extremely talented Clio Bernard. We’re just unpacking our wurst. So we’ll leave it at that for the moment. But here’s the complete list and (hem, hem) a collaboration between Mr Duane and me dating from the mid-1990s. Enjoy.

Variety’s 10 to watch are:

Amma Asante (“Belle”)
Clio Barnard (“The Selfish Giant”)
Anthony Chen (“Ilo Ilo“)
Paul Duane (“Very Extremely Dangerous.” “Natan”)
Ben Falcone (“Tammy”)
Maya Forbes (“Infinitely Polar Bear”)
Aron Gaudet & Gita Pullapilly (“Beneath the Harvest Sky”)
Dome Karukoski (“Heart of a Lion”)
Justin Simien (“Dear White People”)
Gren Wells (“The Road Within”)
