What more can be said about Philip Seymour Hoffman? He was of course one of the finest, most interesting, most unnerving and dextrous actors of his generation, perhaps more. He was also one of my favourites, with his performance in Happiness being my most loved of his.

Here are some articles and tributes to him.

In the New York Times, A. O. Scott writes about an actor who made unhappiness a joy to watch.

In the LA Times, their theatre critic examines his work on stage.

The Guardian’s obituary is here.

Noisey remembers “the Lester Bangs who inspired us all.”

Donald Clarke writes this piece about Hoffman as a strange kind of movie star.
