A new film inspired by Jon Savage’s great book.

Jon Savage wrote what is probably my favourite book about music of all time, England’s Dreaming. But his book, Teenage: The Creation of Youth Culture, is also fantastic. For me, this exhaustive study of youth culture is up there with John Leland’s Hip: The History.

A new documentary called Teenage by Matt Wolf inspired by Savage’s book, comes to Ireland this month, and tracks youth culture through the ages. Wolf previously made the doc Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell.

Teenage opens at the IFI on January 24th.
