The details: the winning album will be selected by the judging panel at the Choice Music Prize live event at Vicar St, Dublin on Thursday March 3 which will be broadcast on Today FM. Details of who will be playing the live show to be announced, but tickets go on sale on Friday morning at €25.50 (plus assorted Ticketmaster Pro-Choice charges) a pop.

The instant reaction: hey, I predicted 8 of those 10 bad boys so that’s not bad. It’s a list with very few surprises, which is a pity because there should always be room for some curveballs but that’s what happens when you’ve collective responsibility. Can foresee a bump in profile for Young Wonder as a result of them making the cut, which is a good thing. As for Gavin James…can’t take some of those judges seriously ever again over after they gave the nod to that chancer (actually couldn’t take some of those judges seriously to begin with anyway). The 10k should go to Girl Band because anything else would be a travesty, though it would also be nice to see Roisin Murphy or Soak come out as the winners on the night. Then again, you’d never know with some of those judges….
