New Music – TVÅ, Fickle Friends, The Walking Who
New acts to run the rule over from Stockholm, Brighton and Sydney
Every week, we highlight a couple of new acts from around the globe who’ve caught our attention. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.
Stockholm siblings Marcus and Lara Andersson are TVÅ, a duo demonstrating plenty of smarts when it comes to sweet, glittering electronic pop. Their new releases “Always Be” and “Keep Me A Secret” have been picked up for release by Cascine’s CSCN singles label, while you can expect to hear more of their songwriting skills elsewhere in the wake of Marcus’ recent work with Sophie for Mad Decent act LIZ.
The Brighton act are one of the bands we expect a lot of people to be going “hell yeah” about after their appearance at this year’s Electric Picnic. The five-strong crew have been steadily adding more and more gems to their giddy snyth-pop playlist, with new track “Paris” up there with previous beauts like last year’s “Swim”.
The Walking Who are the latest Australian band to add to your need-to-know list. A trio from Sydney, their latest track “My Future Wife” gets under your skin with its scintillating psych-rock hooks, broody melancholic twists and atmospheric turns. Band are touring Europe in July so you might well bump into them on your travels in Italy, Switzerland or London.
