New Music – Galantis, Colleagues, Bedouin

Three new one-word-named bands hitting the OTR radar

Here are the latest New Music selections from the On The Record column in tomorrow’s edition of The Ticket. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.

Prepare to get into the Galantis groove. Linus Eklow and Christian Karlsson already have serious skin in the pop game (including work with Icona Pop, Miike Snow, Britney Spears and others), but their own tracks come with a really smart, infectious touch. Check out the six-track debut EP released this week and especially “You”, a huge track at the Winter Music Conference in Miami.

Stockholm five-piece Colleagues make pop music to make you squeal with delight. “Tears” is an instant smash, a song with glee and mischief at the heart of the groove. As befits new-school Scandanavian pop, there’s also a touch of small hours emotion tucked between the funky rhythms and electropop shine.

Bedouin’s dreamy, shimmering “Bright Lights” is one of those tunes which will stop you in your tracks and set you thinking about escaping to far off places. Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, Azniz Korkejian worked on art installations and indie films before striking up with producer Jake Blanton to work on some low-key, alluring, languid tunes.
