The death has taken place of the veteran folk singer and songwriter Pete Seeger at the age of 94.

One of folk music’s most heralded champions, Seeger lived a full and vibrant life. A regular and promenient figure in many civil rights, environmental and anti-war protests, Seeger was also a significant figure in the folk revival of the 1950s and acted as a mentor to the likes of Bob Dylan and others.

In more recent years, Bruce Springsteen released and toured the “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions” album based on Seeger’s stock of traditional music.
