You take a night off from the internet and it all goes off. Last night, someone somewhere (and it certainly wasn’t a journalist) leaked a link to a page on the Electric Picnic website with the full line-up for this year’s festival. The link was live for a hour or two, which was more than enough time for the interwebs and Twitters to do some cutting and pasting. Nialler9 has the full line-up – and a screengrab of the page which has now disappeared – here.
There will, of course, will a lot of hullabaloo about The Leak today, but let’s remember that it’s just a 24 hour thing – by the weekend, we’ll have moved on and will be talking about something else. And, hey, who knows, it could be some sort of viral promo stunt. Or not. If it’s the latterm heads are probably already rolling in the web company who worked on the site because Columbo has been brought in and he reckons he’s found the source of The Leak. Anyway, it’s further proof that keeping line-ups under wraps in 2011 is getting harder and harder.
Apart from Arcade Fire (as announced by OTR last week), we like the sound of PJ Harvey (loving her new album), DJ Shadow (who was sublime on both visits to Ireland last year), Midlake, Lykke Li, Flying Lotus (kudos to the promoters for finally getting him to agree to do a show here), Big Audio Dynamite (oh yes), HEALTH, Beirut and The Walkmen. Oh and Sharon Shannon will be this year’s Chic.
So, people, first impressions please. Am I the only one who thinks that this one has the look of a festival which could sell out in advance?
