Digital Subscriptions

What is a digital subscription? A digital subscription to The Irish Times offers subscribers unlimited access to irishtimes.com, on desktop, tablet or smartphone. This includes access to the Breaking News app. You can choose from two digital subscriptions and two print-digital bundle subscriptions:

Standard Digital  gives unlimited access to all content on irishtimes.com on your computer, tablet or mobile, as well as access to the news app on smartphone. Subscribers also have unlimited access to:

  • The Irish Times Digital Newspaper Archive, with over 10 million Irish Times articles dating back over 160 years;
  • The digital version of Simplex and Crosaire Crosswords;
  • IT Sunday, a subscriber-only service delivered direct to your email inbox and available to subscribers on irishtimes.com;
  • Our Subscriber Rewards Benefits package, including special offers and discounts from our partners, competitions and a chance to attend our subscriber-only events;
  • Irish Times newsletters: Morning Briefing, Lunchtime Latest, Evening Update, Inside Politics, Morning Sports Briefing, Subscriber Rewards, IT Sunday. Subscribers can also sign-up to receive Business Today, Book Club, Abroad, Something for the Weekend, Rewarding Times, Food & Drink Club, The Gloss, Updates & Special Offers here.

Premium Digital has all of the features of Standard Digital, along with daily access to The Irish Times ePaper. The digital replica of the print edition is specially designed for your smartphone or tablet and is also available on desktop.

Complete Print+Digital  is the Premium Digital package with Home Delivery of the newspaper six days a week.

Weekend Print+Digital is the Premium Digital package with Home Delivery on Saturday of the Weekend edition of the newspaper.

What is Subscriber-only content?  Subscriber-only content is unique content we have curated or written exclusively for our subscribers. You must be an Irish Times subscriber to access this content.
Where do I find Subscriber-only content?  You can find Subscriber-Only content here. These are specially selected articles available exclusively to readers with an Irish Times digital subscription.

How do I purchase a digital subscription?

Can I purchase a subscription through the News App?

A subscription purchased on irishtimes.com can be used to sign in to our news apps;

Alternatively you can purchase a subscription via iTunes on the iOS app, or direct from The Irish Times on the Android app.

What currencies can I pay in? You can purchase a subscription in Sterling if you are in the UK, in US Dollars if you are in the US or Canada, and in Euro for Ireland and all other regions.
How will my digital subscription be renewed? Your digital subscription will be billed each month in the case of a monthly subscription on the calendar day corresponding to the commencement of your initial subscription. For more information on our Terms & Conditions please click here
Can I access the Archives as part of my digital subscription? All digital subscribers have access to the irishtimes.com website archive and the Newspaper Archive as part of their subscription.
Can I access the Crossword as part of my digital subscription?

All digital subscribers have access to the Crossword Club as part of their subscription.

To access the Crossword Club after subscribing simply log in using the same details you use to sign into your Irish Times digital subscription.

How do I access and print my Crossword?

To access and print your Crossword, please follow the steps below:

  • Sign into your Crossword subscription here
  • On the left side of the screen you will see an option to open today's Crosaire or Simplex. Click on the one you want to open (here you may be given a message to choose V1 or V2 to view the crossword, click whichever applies to your PC).
  •  When the crossword is open click on the grid to input the answers.
  • If you wish to print the crossword press the red 'PRINT' button above the crossword.
Can I access the ePaper as part of my digital subscription?

Premium Digital and Print+Digitalsubscribers get automatic access to The Irish Times ePaper on desktop, iOS and Android devices.

Can I access eBooks as part of my digital subscription?

Digital subscribers can download eBooks for free as part of their digital subscription.

eBooks are compatible with all iPad and Kindle devices.
Readers who do not have a subscription can purchase eBooks from Amazon or iTunes.

I am a home delivery customer. How do I get digital access?

I have a desktop, a tablet and a smartphone. Can I use my subscription on any of these?  Your subscription is valid for all of your devices and can be used on up to three simultaneously. Please note, Crosswords are available for online play on computers and Android or Apple tablets but are not yet optimised for mobile phones.
Do you provide family access? Your subscription gives you access on up to three devices simultaneously so you can share with your family.
How do I change my personal details?

You can use the My Account feature to update your account details including your email address, password or payment details.  Alternatively you can contact our Customer Care Team .

Can I change my subscription?

Please contact our Customer Care Team if you wish to upgrade or downgrade your subscription.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time - please contact our Customer Care Team using our contact page at least ten business days in advance of your monthly billing date. 

Exceptions apply to certain promotional offers with fixed periods where the cancellation terms will be outlined at the point of purchase.

How do I sign in to irishtimes.com?

You sign in to irishtimes.com with the email address and password you used to set up your account. 

On both desktop and mobile there is a sign in link in the top right hand side of the screen on most pages.

Alternatively you can visit this page and sign in with your email address and password.

Ensure you are using the correct sign in information and please note that your password is case sensitive.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of every newsletter.

Can I buy a subscription as a gift?

Yes, you can purchase a digital subscription as a gift here.

How is the gift subscription delivered?

You will be required to supply a recipient e-mail address and delivery date during the purchase. An email containing a redemption code is sent to the recipient email address you provide on the date you specify. You will also have the option to include a short message that will be in the redemption email.

We will then send the gift recipient communications to outline all the benefits of their subscription.
