Co Antrim trainer Stuart Crawford appeals decision of Navan stewards

Co Antrim trainer Stuart Crawford has appealed the decision of the Navan stewards on Sunday to allow the odds-on favourite Royal Caviar hold on to the valuable Grade Two bumper following an inquiry into interference.

Crawford's runner, Fine Rightly, finished runner-up in the race after receiving interference from the winner. Royal Caviar's rider, Patrick Mullins, got a five-day suspension for careless riding following the incident.

This Monday has been pencilled in as a likely date for the matter to be heard at the Turf Club’s appeals and referrals committee.

The Turf Club has also received an appeal from jockey Robbie Moran against a four-day whip ban he picked up following his victory aboard Rasco in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last Friday.

That appeal is also likely to be heard on Monday.
