Gill insulted by Le Havre accusations
David Gill has warned Le Havre not to accuse Manchester United of wrongdoing over the Paul Pogba transfer. The French club have claimed that United offered Pogba's family money and a house in order to tempt the teenager to Old Trafford.
Chief executive Gill says he feels offended by the suggestions and has stressed that United did everything through the proper channels.
"It is an insult by Le Havre to suggest that Manchester United and the employees of Manchester United have paid the players' parents and bought the parents a house," said Gill.
"We will not accept the good name of Manchester United being trawled around on websites and the press to say that we have done these things which we are not allowed to do and we would never do.
"We've done everything, we think, by the book.
"We are not intimidating Le Havre. We have no intention of intimidating Le Havre."
The Pogba dispute comes just days after Chelsea were banned from registering any new players until 2011 after being found guilty of inducing Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens
Le Havre have threatened to take the matter to FIFA but Gill maintains that United are ready to challenge any case brought against them.
He said: "They can do whatever they feel is appropriate. We can defend our case in the football bodies. We are very comfortable doing that."
