Henrik Stenson is one of the new crop of players to have emerged at the top level in the last two seasons with a number of impressive performances along the way. The Swede booked his place on Woosie's team through numerous top finishes during 2005.

One particular run saw him finish second in the German Masters, third in the Dunhill Championship and third once more in the WGC-American Express Championship. The 30-year-old was also runner-up in the Qatar Masters and Scandinavian Masters and third in the Malaysian Open in 2005.

The first real glimpse of Stenson's undeniable talents on the main tour came three years after he turned pro when he secured the prestigious Benson & Hedges International Open in 2001 at the Belfry. He also won the Heritage at Woburn in 2004.

Stenson then cemented his place on the team earlier this year when it looked like he might have made a clean sweep of the Middle East leg of the tour. He ended up second in the Abu Dhabi Championship, won the Qatar Masters a week later then recorded a top 10 in Dubai the following week.

All of which might suggest the athletic Swede is a streaky player who, when in the groove, can go low and compete with the best. If able to curb a sometimes fiery temperament, and time his streak, this particular Swede is sure to a useful asset, particularly in fourball format.
