Moore for Recital at Leopardstown
Racing: Ryan Moore is a significant jockey booking as Aidan O’Brien’s leading Derby hope Recital makes his seasonal return in the P.W.McGrath Memorial Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown on Sunday.
The Montjeu colt rounded off an unbeaten juvenile campaign with victory in the Group One Criterium De Saint-Cloud and is second only to the mighty Frankel in the ante-post betting for the Derby at Epsom in June.
O’Brien, without a stable jockey since Johnny Murtagh left the position late last year, has saddled five of the last 10 winners of the Ballysax, with Derby winners Galileo and High Chaparral on the roll of honour.
Three-time British champion jockey Moore, currently connected to the Michael Stoute yard, has a total of four rides for O’Brien at Leopardstown. The other major race on the card is the Heritage Stakes, in which Dermot Weld’s six-time course winner Famous Name takes top billing.
