Niland reaches final in Israel
Tennis: Ireland’s Conor Niland continued his hugely impressive run of form at the ATP Challenger Israel Open today, beating Denis Gremelmayr to secure a place in the final.
After edging the German in a tight opening set, Niland made short work of his opponent in the second as he cruised through in straight sets (7-5, 6-1). The Davis Cup player will meet fourth seed Thiago Alves in tomorrow’s decider.
”My serve and forehand were very good today, and that gave Gremelmayr a lot of trouble, and particularly in the second set,” said Niland after his success.
