Find your ancestorsBoxing : Irish middleweight Andy Lee recorded a much-needed knockout win over Willie 'The Gladiator' Gibbs at the University of Limerick Arena last night.
Heading into the bout Lee had lost his unbeaten record when defeated by journeyman Brian Vera in March. Last night's win helped Lee get his career back on track.
The Irish boxer was in control for most of the rounds against Gibbs before knocking his opponent to the canvas in the 10th and final round. Gibbs survived the count but Lee had too much power and Gibbs' corner threw in the towel in the dying seconds of the round.
