Ronan O'Gara

Ireland (Munster)

Ireland's record points scorer (919), he made his debut against Scotland in 2000 and initially fought for the number 10 jersey with David Humphreys but has been a pivotal figure for Munster and Ireland in three Triple Crowns, two Heineken Cups and a Grand Slam.

Was the first player to score a try at Croke Park (France 2006). Toured with the 2001 Lions, where he came off second best after an altercation with Duncan McRae, and again on the ill-fated 2005 trip to New Zealand.

Despite lingering concerns over his defence, the Munster pivot has now matured into a great outhalf who's at his best when the pressure is at its zenith: the drop goal against Wales a classic example.

Did little wrong against the Royal XV but certainly not at his game controlling best. Needs an improved showing to claim the Test place.
