Brian O'Driscoll
Ireland (Leinster)
First came to prominence on the international stage when scoring a hat-trick of tries for Ireland against France in 2000, guaranteeing a first victory for the visitors in Paris for 28 years.
Since then he has gone on to play 93 matches for Ireland, more than 50 as captain, scoring 36 tries. For most of the last decade he has been the best centre in world rugby.
Toured with Lions in 2001 and was captain in 2005 only to suffer the infamous spear tackle. Vying for mantle of Ireland's best ever player he was a central figure in the Grand Slam success.
Was instrumental in the Lions 10-try rout against the Golden Lions and got on the scoresheet with a try of his own. Was taken off after the hour mark as precautionary measure.
