Canning injured in LIT victory
Gaelic Games: Limerick Institute of Technology and Galway face an anxious wait over star forward Joe Canning after he shipped an injury while helping his college side to an emphatic 1-20 to 0-8 victory over GMIT in a Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final in Limerick today.
Canning was forced off midway through the second half after taking a heavy challenge from Conor Forde after 22 minutes of the first half, an incident that saw Forde booked and Canning score a goal from the resultant free.
When he left the pitch, he had contributed 1-8 to his side’s tally. After the game, Canning went to St John’s Hospital in Limerick for an X-ray on his collarbone.
Caning, 23, had a bad run with injury last year, playing only four competitive games for Galway.
