Masters quits Cork senior panel
GAA: James Masters has quit the Cork senior football panel after the Nemo Rangers clubman seemingly became disillusioned by the lack of game time and inability to hold down a regular starting role with the Rebels.
Masters informed manager Con Counihan of his decision earlier in the week. The 27-year-old only featured briefly during Cork’s three National League games against Monaghan, Kerry and Galway this year.
He never made it onto the pitch against Monaghan and only came on as a late substitute in the Kerry and Galway games.
Cork selector Ger O’Sullivan said he hasn’t ruled out Masters making a return in the future.
Masters captained the Rebels to All-Ireland minor success in 2000.
