Newtown' and Ballyhale both advance
GAA: Newtownshandrum and Ballyhale Shamrocks booked their place in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland club hurling championships after their respective provincial wins this afternoon.
Newtownshandrum won the Munster final after defeating Ballygunner 2-11 to 2-09 at Semple Stadium, while Ballyhale won out of Leinster with a 1-16 to 1-08 win over Tullamore at O'Connor Park.
In the Ulster football club final St Gall's were convincing 0-16 to 0-5 winners over Loup at Pairc Esler, while Corofin were were too much for Charlestown as they ran out 2-14 to 0-7 winners in the Connacht final at Fr O'Hara Park.
