St Patrick's savour first major oval ball success

St Patricks Navan 36 Wesley College 10:Gaelic football nursery St Patrick’s, Navan, became the first Section A qualifier to win the Leinster Schools Fr Godfrey (Section B) Cup at Templeville Road yesterday.

They stretched to a 21-0 lead inside 25 minutes, with tries from outside centre Ben McEntaggart and inside centre Conor Nash, both converted by outhalf Christian Byrne.

Wesley hit back with 10 unanswered points from a try by Andrew Egan and a penalty and conversion from outhalf Adam Curry. Any hope of a miraculous comeback was wiped out by tries from openside David Ahearne, right wing Hubert Paklak and outhalf Byrne.
