Super Sunday round up: Wins for Bayern Munich and PSG

Bayern Munich 5 Borussia Dortmund 1

Bayern Munich stamped their authority on the Bundesliga by opening up a seven-point lead at the top thanks to a 5-1 win over their nearest rivals, Borussia Dortmund.

Two goals from Thomas Müller before the break were followed by two from Robert Lewandowski after half-time, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a consolation for the guests to the Allianz Arena.

Mario Götze added Bayern’s fifth as they ominously opened up the largest advantage of any club after only eight games of a Bundesliga season.

Douglas Costa skipped past Sokratis Papastathopoulos midway through the first half but his shot was palmed back to him by Roman Burki, who then had Lukasz Piszczek to thank for heading the ball away from Götze from Costa’s next cross.

Burki was caught out a few minutes later when he raced out of his goal but could not block Müller, who nudged Jérôme Boateng’s long ball past the Dortmund goalkeeper before slotting it into the unguarded goal.

Müller had the opportunity to make it two 10 minutes later when Thiago Alcantara went down in the penalty area with Henrikh Mkhitaryan close to him, and the Germany international stroked the ball past Burki for his eighth goal of the season.

Thoughts of Bayern cruising to victory were dashed within two minutes when Mkhitaryan fed Gonzalo Castro down the right and his low cross was met by Aubameyang at the far post to maintain his record of having scored in each one of Dortmund’s Bundesliga games this season.

Aubameyang raced clear again five minutes before half-time but Javi Martínez cut out his cross as Mkhitaryan waited to tuck it in.

Dortmund’s end to the first half had clearly shaken Bayern, who took immediate steps to allay any fears with Lewandowski giving them some breathing space within 30 seconds of the restart.

The Pole latched on to Boateng’s next sweeping pass and, as Burki again provided no resistance as he came out of his goal, he had the simple task of tapping the ball into an open goal for his 11th of the season.

Tuchel took a throw of the dice by sending Marco Reus and Adnan Januzaj on but his side's hopes ought to have been over when Müller sent a low cross to Gotze who, with an open goal at his mercy, scooped the ball over the crossbar from five yards out.

Lewandowski showed him how it should be done with his second, in effect, putting the result beyond any doubt, turning in Gotze’s right-wing cross from 10 yards out.

Mkhitaryan snatched at a shot with only Manuel Neuer to beat as Dortmund attempted a recovery but it was Bayern celebrating again with Gotze making it five from just inside the penalty area.

Atlético Madrid 1 Real Madrid 1

The Atlético Madrid substitute Luciano Vietto scored a late goal to snatch a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid, denying Rafa Benítez’s side the chance to reclaim the lead in La Liga.

Karim Benzema gave Real a great start with his league-leading sixth goal to quieten the Vicente Calderón crowd only nine minutes into the match and the Real goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, protected that advantage by saving Antoine Griezmann's penalty in the 22nd minute.

But as Real settled for defending instead of seeking a second goal to seal the win Atlético pushed forward and Vietto poked in a cross from his fellow substitute Jackson Martínez in the 83rd minute.

“We had the win in our hands,” Navas said. “This isn’t the result we wanted, but it’s a point and we have to value it. We committed a mistake and in these games errors are paid for dearly.”

Real squandered the opportunity to overtake Villarreal at the top of the table after the leaders lost 1-0 at Levante earlier.

Real are level on points with Celta Vigo in third and Barcelona in fourth after the champions’ 2-1 loss at Sevilla on Saturday. Diego Simeone’s Atlético remain in fifth place, three points off Villarreal’s pace.

“We snatched a point, and tried to get the win, but it wasn’t to be,” the 21-year-old Vietto said after his first goal for Atlético since moving from Villarreal.

Benzema continues to be Real's most consistent scorer this campaign as Cristiano Ronaldo had a subdued game.

Gareth Bale returned from a four-game injury absence as a Real substitute in the 66th minute, but Benítez took off Benzema for the midfielder Mateo Kovacic with 13 minutes to go in a clear effort to hold on to the slim lead.

Ajax 1 PSV Eindhoven 2

PSV Eindhoven ended Ajax’s unbeaten start to the season and blew the Eredivisie title race wide open with their 2-1 win in Amsterdam on Sunday.

The Dutch champions took the lead over the league leaders after seven minutes, their new signing Gaston Pereiro opening the scoring by firing into the roof of the net. Three minutes later Ajax added to a frantic opening by equalising, as Amin Younes curled the leveller into the net.

Both sides had good chances as the game progressed, most notably Viktor Fischer’s effort for the home side that hit the post in the second half, but PSV claimed the winner in the closing stages.

Pereiro, making his first league start for Phillip Cocu’s side, cut in from the right, made space for his shot and lashed the ball into the corner of the net past the grasping Jasper Cillessen.

Ajax remain top of the Eredivisie but only on goal difference after Feyenoord drew level with Frank de Boer’s men. Feyenoord beat the bottom side De Graafschap 2-1 earlier in the day, moving above Heracles, who beat Heerenveen 2-0 on Friday night, into second.

AC Milan 4 Napoli 0

Milan’s miserable start to the season continued as they were beaten 4-0 by Napoli in front of their own aghast fans, the first time they have lost by such a scoreline at the San Siro since 2009.

Napoli opened the scoring on 13 minutes when Marek Hamsik picked up Cristian Zapata's wayward clearance and played in Lorenzo Insigne, who set up the advancing Allan to finish powerfully past Diego Lopez. Insigne doubled the lead on 48 minutes, playing a one-two with Gonzalo Higuain before sending a curling right-footed effort past Lopez. The contest was settled on 67 minutes when Insigne scored his fifth goal of the campaign with a long-range freekick.

PSG 2 Marseille 1

Zlatan Ibrahimovic became Paris St Germain’s top scorer of all time when his double led the French champions to a 2-1 home win against Olympique de Marseille. With two first-half penalties, Ibrahimovic now has 110 goals to his name for PSG since he joined from AC Milan in 2012, beating by one goal the record set by Portugal’s Pedro Miguel Pauleta between 2003 and 2008. Table-toppers PSG have 23 points from nine games and lead surprise package Angers by five points after the promoted side beat Bastia 1-0 on Saturday.
