Drogheda United 3 UCD 2

A five-goal thriller saw Drogheda deservedly take the points from this contest although UCD pushed them all the way.

United went in front on 21 minutes when Shane Grimes took a throw quickly to Gavin Brennan, who sent a low cross in for Gary O'Neill who applied the deftest of touches to send the ball to the net.

Gavin Brennan's 32nd-minute volley from the left corner of the area somehow deceived everyone to cross the line to make it 2-0.

Totally against the run of play United conceded a goal when Seán Russell crossed for Robbie Benson to tap in.

Drogheda struck again at the start of the second half as Ryan Brennan's brilliant ball sent O'Neill in on goal and he slid the ball under McGinley.

UCD threw caution to the wind and were rewarded in the 67th minute when David McMillan squared for Dean Clarke who hadan easy finish.
