Soccer:Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has not ruled a return of Robbie Keane to the club for a second loan spell in January.

The Republic of Ireland striker made seven appearances and scored three goals with the Birmingham club last season as he took advantage of the MLS off-season to keep up his fitness and sharpness ahead of the European Championships.

Keane has been in outstanding form for the Galaxy this season, scoring two goals in their 3-0 victory over Seattle in the first leg of their conference championship play-off last weekend.

It brought his tally for the season to 20 goals in 32 games as LA look to defend their MLS title.

Speaking ahead of their game against Manchester City on Saturday, Lambert praised Keane, but said he has yet to decide on any moves in the January window.

“Robbie Keane is a brilliant player and has been over the years, but I don’t know the situation there at all. When January gets closer I’ll start to think about things.”

Keane, 32, is also believed to have attracted the attention of former Republic of Ireland assistant manager Chris Hughton, who may look to bring the striker to Norwich City during the MLS close season.
