Green and Henderson called up for World Cup qualifiers

Walters and Westwood ruled out through injury for double-header

Republic of Ireland interim manager Noel King has been forced to make two changes to his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan after the withdrawal of Jon Walters and Kieren Westwood through injury .

Stoke City's Walters was assessed at his club on Sunday after being substituted in the 70th minute with a groin injury in his side's 1-0 game defeat away to Fulham on Saturday. His place in the 23-man squad goes to Leeds United midfielder Paul Green, who had been on standby.

King lost his second goalkeeper in the space of 24 hours after Westwood joined Darren Randolph on the sidelines.

The Sunderland stopper will remain at his club to receive medical treatment during the international window and will be replaced by Stephen Henderson, who is on loan with Bournemouth from West Ham.
