Weekend Premier League team news

All the latest on injuries and suspensions ahead of big games

SATURDAY (3pm unless stated)

Manchester City (3) v Stoke (9), 12.45pm - Live Sky Sports 1
Manchester City playmaker David Silva is back in contention after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. Full backs Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna are also available again after back problems, meaning City virtually have a fully-fit squad as Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid draws closer. Midfielder Samir Nasri – who is not registered to play in Europe – is the only notable absentee with a muscle problem.

Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri will not feature at the Etihad Stadium due to a hamstring problem. Shaqiri sustained the injury during Monday’s 4-0 home loss to Tottenham and had to be substituted at half-time. Veteran goalkeeper Shay Given came into the team for that game and is set to keep his place this weekend, while defender Erik Pieters completes a two-match suspension.

Jose Fonte (head) and Victor Wanyama (ribs) were both taken to hospital following the 1-1 draw with Everton last weekend but have passed fitness tests for Southampton. Charlie Austin and Florin Gardos (both knee) remain on the sidelines.

Jamie Vardy is suspended for Leicester after being sent off in their 2-2 draw with West Ham last weekend. The striker faces a further ban after accepting a charge of improper conduct and could also miss next week's trip to Manchester United. Boss Claudio Ranieri has no further injury worries other than Matty James with the midfielder not expected to feature this season after being out for almost a year with a knee injury.

Jack Cork has recovered from a facial injury for Swansea. He was struck by the ball during last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle and sat out a training session on Tuesday as a precaution. Leon Britton is in contention to start after missing the last two games with a back injury, but head coach Francesco Guidolin is expected to keep changes to a minimum despite the size of their defeat at St James’ Park.
