Good morning and welcome to Tuesday’s sport briefing where we have a concise summary of the morning papers’ breaking news encompassing the developing stories from yesterday evening as well as the overnight action which didn’t quite make it in. We also have a handy guide to the day-ahead’s sporting action whether you’re out and about or perched on the sofa for the night.

There wasn’t much in the way of live match activity last night, although for what was a relatively quiet soccer transfer deadline day it did nonetheless provide a few interesting twists which could have an effect on the remainder of the season. And no doubt many which of course will not.

What to watch out for:

There's three Sigerson Cup football matches today with plenty of top quality intercounty talent on show. IT Tralee face Brendan Murphy's IT Carlow at 2.45pm in Kerry before 30 minutes later a UCD team containing Westmeath's John Heslin, Kildare's Tommy Moolick and more, will play a decent Athlone IT side at home in Belfield. While at 6pm Maynooth, knocking on the door for a while now take on UL in the Maynooth university campus.

In the FA Cup tonight Cambridge United take on Manchester United in Old Trafford for their jackpot fourth round replay.

Bayern Munich will be looking to recover from their shock 4-1 defeat to Wolfsburg on Friday with the visit of fourth-placed Schalke.
