Team news: Angel Di Maria in line to make United debut at Burnley

Sean Dyche expects striker Sam Vokes to once again be Burnley's only absentee. Wales international Vokes has a long-term knee problem but was back doing some running on the grass at the Clarets' training ground this week. Dyche will likely recall a number of players who were rested in the Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, including goalkeeper Tom Heaton, long-serving defender Michael Duff and striker Danny Ings.

British record signing Angel Di Maria is fit to make his United debut. Midfielders Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera (all ankle) are out, as is utility man Jesse Lingard (knee). Defenders Luke Shaw (hamstring), Chris Smalling (groin) and Marcos Rojo (awaiting work permit) are unavailable, while doubts remain over right back Rafael (groin) and midfielder Shinji Kagawa, who suffered concussion in Tuesday’s defeat at MK Dons.

Everton (10) v Chelsea (2)
Everton will assess the fitness of two former Chelsea strikers, Samuel Eto'o and Romelu Lukaku. Eto'o has been short of match fitness, having only joined the club this week, while Lukaku has had a toe injury. Another player with Chelsea connections, on-loan winger Christian Atsu, cannot face his parent club. Midfielder Steven Pienaar (groin) is definitely missing but Republic of Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson is still pushing to return after 10 months out. Midfield duo Ross Barkley (knee) and Bryan Oviedo (leg), and striker Arouna Kone (knee) remain sidelined.

Summer signing Diego Costa has been passed fit Chelsea despite missing two days’ training due to a minor muscular injury, while Jose Mourinho has to make a decision on whether to include Fernando Torres amid speculation over his future. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could again be selected ahead of veteran Petr Cech.

Manchester City (3) v Stoke (15)
Manchester City strikers Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko are both fit. There were reports Aguero may have suffered a training ground injury this week, but the club have dismissed them and the Argentinian continues to build his match fitness. Dzeko has recovered from the blow to a thigh sustained against Liverpool on Monday. New defender Eliaquim Mangala and loan midfielder Frank Lampard remain short of match fitness while striker Alvaro Negredo (metatarsal) is out long term.

On-loan Chelsea winger Victor Moses is likely to start on the bench for Stoke despite impressing on debut in midweek. The Nigeria international featured significantly in the Capital One Cup victory over Portsmouth, but is not yet fit enough to play 90 minutes. Utility player Geoff Cameron is out with a thigh problem sustained in the cup game, but defender Phil Bardsley and playmaker Bojan Krkic could be fit after being rested in midweek.

Central defender Mike Williamson returns to the Newcastle squad after he missed the 1-0 Capital One Cup second-round victory at Gillingham through suspension. Fellow defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (ankle) and midfielder Cheick Tiote (hamstring) are still missing, as are full back Davide Santon and striker Papiss Cisse (both knee).

Scott Dann remains doubtful for Palace. The former Blackburn defender is still battling a niggling hip problem, while Wilfried Zaha could jump straight into action after rejoining Palace on loan. New Eagles manager Neil Warnock will definitely be without midfielder Joe Ledley, who could still be two weeks from overcoming his groin strain.

QPR (20) v Sunderland (11)
QPR will be without Alejandro Faurlin after the midfielder suffered a serious knee injury for the third time in three years. Manager Harry Redknapp could yet be without Faurlin for the remainder of the season after he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury – whilst loan signing Eduardo Vargas will be unavailable as he is still awaiting a work permit. Charlie Austin (hamstring) missed the 4-0 loss at Tottenham last weekend but could be involved on Saturday as Redknapp is likely to recall a number of players who sat out the Capital One Cup defeat to Burton.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has no fresh injury concerns, but having made six changes for the Capital One Cup second-round victory at Birmingham in midweek, has options at his disposal. Costel Pantilimon, Billy Jones, Liam Bridcutt, Adam Johnson, Jordi Gomez and Jozy Altidore all started at St Andrews, but Vito Mannone, Patrick van Aanholt, Lee Cattermole, Jack Rodwell, Will Buckley and Steven Fletcher will hope for recalls at Loftus Road.

Swansea (4) v West Brom (12)
Swansea boss Garry Monk might change a winning league line-up. New defender Federico Fernandez made his debut in the much-changed Capital One Cup side against Rotherham in midweek and stands by to replace Jordi Amat for his Premier League bow as Swansea seek to build on opening wins over Manchester United and Burnley. Swansea are still without knee injury victims Marvin Emnes and Leon Britton, the veteran midfielder having suffered a further fitness blow this week when told he would need a scan in three weeks' time before he could get the all-clear to play again.

Georgios Samaras must wait for his West Brom debut with the striker yet to regain match fitness. He will instead go away with Greece over the international break, where Hawthorns head coach Alan Irvine hopes he will get some game time. Fellow new signings Silvestre Varela and Joleon Lescott are also unavailable as they strive for fitness, while Sebastien Pocognoli is a doubt with hip and groin problems.

Diafra Sakho scored on his home debut for West Ham against Sheffield United on Tuesday but was substituted with a back complaint and is now a doubt, with Matt Jarvis (thigh), Carl Jenkinson and James Collins (both hamstring) all ruled out by manager Sam Allardyce. Captain Kevin Nolan (shoulder) and club-record signing Andy Carroll (ankle) are out for longer, with many of the side who sat out the Capital One Cup defeat to the Blades likely to return.

Southampton midfielder Lloyd Isgrove is almost certain to miss out. Saints boss Ronald Koeman has revealed Isgrove is “not in a good physical way to play” after lasting only 30 minutes of the Capital One Cup tie against Millwall. Otherwise Koeman has a fully fit squad to select from with no fresh injury concerns.

Ron Vlaar (knee) and Aly Cissokho (ankle) will return for Villa after the decision was taken not to risk them in Wednesday's 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Leyton Orient. Jores Okore (knee) is also sidelined although he is only expected to be out for a number of days while Christian Benteke (Achilles) and Libor Kozak (broken leg) remain out. Brad Guzan will replace Shay Given in goal after being rested in midweek.

Hull’s new signing Michael Dawson could make an immediate debut as the Tigers look to put their Europa League disappointment behind them. Dawson would be a like-for-like replacement for James Chester, who is suspended after last week’s red card against Stoke. Manager Steve Bruce made six changes for the midweek clash against Lokeren and should restore the likes of Tom Huddlestone, Nikica Jelavic, Andrew Robertson and Tom Ince to his starting XI.

Leicester are waiting to see if they first receive international clearance for new high-profile signing Esteban Cambiasso before making a decision on his availability. Former Argentina international Cambiasso signed a one-year deal with City on Thursday after becoming a free agent following his release from Inter Milan. Definitely ruled out of the game with the Gunners are midfielder Matty James (shin) and defender Matthew Upson (foot), otherwise manager Nigel Pearson has a full squad to choose from.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey returns from suspension, but midfielder Mikel Arteta continues to be sidelined with an ankle problem. Goalkeeper David Ospina is close to completing his recovery from a thigh strain. Striker Olivier Giroud (tibia), full back Kieran Gibbs (hamstring) and winger Theo Walcott (knee) are in the treatment room.

New signing Federico Fazio could make his Tottenham debut, although Roberto Soldado is a doubt. Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino has yet to decide whether centre back Fazio, who arrived from Sevilla on Wednesday, will feature. Striker Soldado may be absent again with a neck and back issue, while right back Kyle Walker and goalkeeper Michel Vorm are out through injury.

Summer signings Mario Balotelli and the fit-again Adam Lallana could make their Liverpool debuts. Three players who sustained problems during Monday’s 3-1 loss at Manchester City – Alberto Moreno (ankle), Martin Skrtel (knock) and Glen Johnson (thigh)–— are to be assessed, with the latter looking most likely to miss out. Jose Enrique will also have a late fitness test, but Jon Flanagan is not yet ready to return as he works his way back to fitness from his knee injury, and Daniel Agger and Oussama Assaidi remain sidelined.
