Brendan Rodgers: ‘I’ve had a few offers since I’ve been out to go abroad’

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be open to coaching abroad.

The Northern Irishman brought the Reds within touching distance of a first title in over two decades during the 2013-14 season, but the subsequent decline cost him his job.

It is now 105 days since Liverpool called time on Rodgers’ reign — time he has spent with his family and travelling as he looks to return to management this summer re-energised.

Another previous employer, Swansea, have been linked with the 42-year-old, who has confirmed his interest in managing overseas.

“It’s something I would consider,” Rodgers, who speaks Spanish, told Goals on Sunday. “I’ve had a few offers since I’ve been out to go abroad, and also at home.

“But I just want to find the time to recover well and make sure the motivation is renewed when I go back in again.

“It can be wherever as long as it is an exciting project to get into, and the club want to work together and build something. I’d look forward to that.

“But, for me, I think wherever you go you have to go to win.

“It doesn’t matter where you go, whatever country it is, you have to be and want to be in with a chance of winning.

“It is something we went so close to at Liverpool and being around that is something that really drives you.”
