Nigel Carolan says Connacht Eagles let down the jersey

All province could manage was a Dave McSharry try and three penalties

Coach Nigel Carolan reckons Connacht Eagles let down the jersey after shipping 11 tries in their British and Irish Cup opener. Llanelli ran riot at Parc y Scarlets, with Kyle Evans, Dylan Morgans, Dion Jones, Adam and Aaron Warren all crossing.

All Connacht could manage was a Dave McSharry try and three penalties. “What can I say after that? Missed tackles were a killer,” said Carolan.

“In the first half I thought this can’t continue – it was four missed tackles. All credit to Llanelli they took their chances well and had good pace on the outside.

“It comes down to the man inside the jersey; they have to put their body on the line.”
