Wannabe Better to secure back-to-back Group Three wins at Fairyhouse

Tommy Stack’s filly should thrive on fast ground and seven-furlong trip

Wannabe Better appears to be thriving on hard work and the Tommy Stack-trained stalwart can secure back-to-back Group Three victories when she lines up in this evening's Fairyhouse feature.

The Brownstown Stakes will be Wannabe Better's sixth start this term and she looked better than ever a fortnight ago when beating a good field, which included males, in the Ballycorus at Leopardstown.

She faces just her own sex today and shares topweight with another Leopardstown Group Three winner in Majestic Queen while the eight-strong field also includes a pair of three-year-olds in Sparrow and Seas Of Wells.

Fast ground and seven furlongs looked to show Wannabe Better at her best last time though and she must have a good chance of completing a quick double for jockey Wayne Lordan whose mount in the preceding maiden, Soebroto, carries first-time blinkers.

The value of first-time headgear will also be tested by the 87-rated Monsieur Power in the opener and although he has proved expensive to follow, time could tell he was attempting a near-mission impossible in trying to beat Cougar Mountain at Naas last week. Shabra Emperor has conditions to suit in the first of the seven-furlong handicaps.
