Lancashire’s Liam Livingstone injured in Kent bar brawl - reports

Lancashire batsman Liam Livingstone reportedly suffered a head injury during a bar brawl in Kent on Saturday night.

The Red Rose had earlier beaten Kent in the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final by virtue of fewer wickets lost after the scores were tied to book their place at Finals Day.

Livingstone played in the match at Canterbury, contributing 12 runs, and had been part of the team celebrating the victory when the alleged incident occurred.

Several media outlets are claiming Livingstone, 22, was attacked and sustained an injury to his head.

A Lancashire statement read: ”LCCC is aware of an incident that took place on Saturday evening involving some of our players.

”The matter is currently being investigated by the police and nobody from the club will be making any further comment at this stage.”

Kent Police said it received a report of a disturbance at 11.57pm. A force spokesman said: ”Officers attended the Auction House Bar in New Street, Ashford.

”It was reported that a man in his 20s had been assaulted and sustained a head injury.

”Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.”

Witnesses have been asked to contact police.

Livingstone made his senior debut for Lancashire in the Twenty20 competition this season, contributing 119 runs from his 14 matches with a high score of 27.

He made an impression on his maiden 50-over appearance, however, with an excellent counter-attacking 91 in Lancashire’s 51-run victory over Kent at the St Lawrence Ground last Saturday.

Lancashire are next in action in Royal London One-Day Cup action on Monday against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, with Livingstone not included in the 14-man squad.
