Jason Quigley to know his opponent next week

The Irish middleweight will fight on March 6th in his fourth professional bout

Ireland amateur World Championship silver medallist, Jason Quigley, will know who he fights in his fourth professional bout next week.

Quigley is to make his return to action on March 6th under Golden Boy Promotions . The 23-year-old from Ballybofey in Donegal has three wins from his opening three professional bouts and will fight in the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Irish middleweight has been living in Los Angeles after turning professional following his final magical year in the amateurs in 2013, when he won the European Championships and made it to the finals of the World Championships.

“We don’t have an opponent for Jason yet. At the moment we have a few people in mind but we do hope to have his opponent named next week,” said a spokeswoman from Quigley’s LA based management company Sheer Sports.

“He trains in Rock Gym in Carson and he is doing really well here. When we took him up to Boston, he had great support. People drove up from New York, came from Ireland. Even here in LA we’d crowds. He is definitely picking up his momentum.

"For a kid of his age to come to the US and do what he is doing has been really encouraging. Jason trains well and he is really quite mature for his age. Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy is thrilled with him."

Quigley defeated Howard Reece after just 82 seconds of his debut fight last July at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas and followed that up with a win over Fernando Najera at The StubHub Centre in California last summer.

He made it 3-0 with a win over Greg McCoy in Plymouth, Massachusetts, last October, which took less than three minutes.
