Morris provides platform for easy victory as UL impress

Univ of Limerick 2-19 St Pat’s/Mater Dei 0-7:On a windy afternoon in Limerick, the placed ball prowess of Kieran Morris, coupled with superb displays from the half-forwards and goals from David Butler and Eamonn Murphy, ensured UL eased to victory over St Pat’s/Mater Dei.

Butler goaled after nine minutes and UL were quick out of the blocks before a brief St Pat’s rally, although the home side hit the last three points of the half to lead 1-9 to 0-6 at the interval.

Assisted by the wind, UL picked their opponents off at will, a fourth Niall Arthur free the only score St Pat’s hit after the break. Morris landed 0-8 in all, including six frees and a 65, as UL left St Pat’s trailing in their wake as Murphy had time to goal on 53 minutes.
