Juventus firmly in contention after routing Nordsjaelland
Group E:Juventus ended their record run of nine European draws and revived their campaign by demolishing Nordsjaelland 4-0 in Turin. Juve’s win was never in doubt after Claudio Marchisio opened the scoring after six minutes from Mauricio Isla’s cross.
Further goals by Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco made it 3-0 by half-time as the Danish champions barely got out of their own half, then substitute Fabio Quagliarella added a fourth on 75 minutes.
The win lifted Juventus up to six points from four games, keeping them firmly in contention.
Group F:Claudio Pizarro scored a 15-minute hat-trick as Bayern Munich pulverised Lille 6-1, eliminating the French side and taking a big step towards the round of 16.
The 34-year-old notched the Champions League’s third fastest hat-trick as Bayern recorded the biggest half-time lead in the competitions history. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arjen Robben scored from free kicks and Toni Kroos fired in from 16 metres in the second half.
Lille’s only reply came from Salomon Kalou. Bayern share top spot with Valencia who beat Bate Borisov 4-2.
Group G:An Oscar Cardozo double after coming on as a second-half substitute helped Benfica beat Spartak Moscow 2-0 and kept alive their chances of qualification for the knockout stages.
Cardozos header after 55 minutes from a Melgarejo cross and a volley 14 minutes later settled the tie and lifted the Portuguese side above their Russian rivals by a point to set up a second-place tussle with Celtic later this month.
Group H:Burak Yilmaz scored a brilliant hat-trick to earn Galatasaray a deserved 3-1 win over CFR Cluj.
The win spoiled Paulo Sergios European debut as coach of Cluj while Galatasaray revived their chances of reaching the last 16.
