Clare travel to Nowlan Park for relegation play-off with Kilkenny

Venues announced for hurling league quarter finals and relegation play off

Clare will have six days to dust themselves off before travelling back to Nowlan Park for Sunday's Division 1A relegation play-off.

Kilkenny pulled off a surprising 2-20 to 2-19 victory against their Munster opponents last Sunday with what was a relatively second-string fifteen as a play-off was all but guaranteed for them coming into the game.

The likes of Richie Hogan and Cillian Buckley look set to return for the All-Ireland champions six days on, as well as the victorious Ballyhale Shamrock contingent.

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald eluded to how three hard weeks of games in which the team have now been edged by Tipperary and Kilkenny but beaten Dublin, will make things difficult against a "fresher" Kilkenny, who now also have - thanks to the coin toss - resumed home advantage.

Meanwhile the venues of three of the four Division One quarter finals were today also decided upon via a coin toss. Dublin and Limerick will be part of a double header at Croke Park on Saturday with the capital’s footballers also in action.

Offaly will welcome high-flying Tipperary to O’Connor Park Tullamore, Wexford will travel to Páirc Uí Rinnto to face Cork, and then in the only quarter final which did not require a toss; Waterford welcome Galway to Walsh Park.

In the Division 1B relegation play-off Laois have home advantage against Antrim who are winless in the league thus far, but require just one victory to maintain their divisional status.

That Division 1B play off and Dublin and Limerick’s quarter final are set for Sunday while the other four fixtures are scheduled for Sunday. Extra time will be played in all six games if necessary and throw in times are to be confirmed.
