Brick inspires Kerry

WATERFORD CRYSTAL FIRST ROUND: Kerry 1-20 IT Tralee 1-15:KERRY RECORDED their first ever Waterford Crystal Cup victory thanks to Shane Brick’s 12-point haul against IT Tralee at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, yesterday.

After IT Tralee enjoyed the better of the first half, leading 1-10 to 1-9 at half-time thanks to Eamonn Brosnan’s 1-5 and three points from Mark Deegan, Kerry cranked up the pressure in the second half but they left it late to make a winning move.

The teams were tied four times in the second half; with 10 minutes left it was 1-14 apiece but Brick (0-4) and goalscorer Darragh O’Connell (0-2) helped Kerry book a quarter-final date with Cork.
