Marriage in Northern Ireland

A chara, – The letter from Aoife Lord (August 1st) encourages acceptance of marriage between people from polarised communities first, and then same-sex marriage, as advocated by Leo Varadkar in Belfast last weekend. But it overlooks the growing numbers of people like my wife (a Protestant) and me (a Catholic) who are crossing over, as it were.

Better still, she was British when I married her and is now Irish. I am an EU citizen and now about to apply for Irish citizenship.

Can we get back to the same-sex marriage story now? – Is mise,
