Sir, – I am somewhat perplexed by the inability of so many of your readers to remember the seven characters of an Eircode. In my late seventies, I have no difficulty in remembering the Eircode for my address, the seven characters for my landline telephone or the 10 numbers of my mobile telephone, the password for that mobile or the pin numbers for my debit and credit cards. These are all unformatted character sequences. I wonder why the simple Eircode creates such a mental block. – Yours, etc,
