Demolishing a church

Sir, – I note that a large church in Finglas in Dublin is about to be demolished ("One of Dublin's largest Catholic churches to be demolished", February 3rd). The reasons given are that it is leaking, impossible to warm and the attendance is elderly.

I attended Midnight Mass last Christmas with a slight expectation that I might be stimulated enough to revert to regular church attendance.

Like the Dublin church building, the message from the altar was leaky in its logic, impossible to warm to, and was tired and outdated in both its message and delivery. – Yours, etc,
