Critical thinking

A chara,– I agree with the comment made by President Michael D Higgins that an overemphasis on technological education is not the best way to prepare young people for life ("Lack of critical thinking in schools and society a concern", says President", News, November 17th). Other areas of learning and different educational experiences contribute greatly to the overall development of students and must not be neglected. Education is more than the acquisition of a narrow range of work-oriented skills, led at times by short-term political goals. – Is mise,
