Mon 08 Aug 2008India puts Muslim-majority areas of Kashmir under curfew
INDIA:MUSLIM-MAJORITY areas of Indian Kashmir were put under an indefinite curfew yesterday - in the lead-up to a rally and protest outside government buildings planned by separatist leaders protesting against Indian rule.
The state's summer capital Srinagar was closed down yesterday by a general strike, the latest in two weeks of demonstrations which have seen almost three dozen people die - the bloodiest violence for a decade.
