Hop to France from Spain
Pretty Perpignan: low-cost bus company Frogbus now goes directly to the French city from Girona in SpainBUS ROUTE: GOOD NEWS FOR the thousands of Irish people who use Girona Airport in northern Spain as an entry point into France: low-cost bus company Frogbus this week launched a route connecting the airport with Perpignan in southern France.
The company is the first bus operator to offer an express service connecting Girona Airport to the Languedoc-Roussillon region. It plans to extend the route in the coming months to create a network connecting Toulouse and Barcelona (and others) with regular multi-day services.
The co-founder of www.frogbus.com , Irishman Joe Shannon, says the development has been a challenge to his business skills, given the use of online technology, the cross-border dimension and the heavily regulated transport sector in France.
Demand in the first week of service has exceeded all expectations, he said.
The new route will operate a scheduled service six times a day, seven days a week, starting at Perpignan TGV station, making one brief stop at the Le Boulou/A9 interchange, before crossing the Spanish border and travelling to Girona Airport, from where you can avail of dozens of Europe-wide flights.
