Canadian albums: The nominations for this year’s Polaris Prize (Canadian album of the year), to be announced on September 21st, include Metric, Malajube, F*cked Up, Patrick Watson, Chad VanGaalen and Great Lake Swimmers.
Lizard kings : Chicago noise rockers The Jesus Lizard will play their first Irish gig since reforming last year at The Button Factory, Dublin on September 22nd.
Smash back: A special edition of legendary pop magazine Smash Hits went on sale this week. The magazine ceased publication in 2006, but has been resurrected for a one-off special devoted to Michael Jackson.
Label boss dies : Allen Klein, the infamous record label owner who had close dealings with the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and Sam Cooke, died last weekend after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was 77.
