DaedelusJIM CARROLL
One glance at a chock-a-block set of club listings and you know right away that there’s a bank-holiday weekend in the offing.
Planetlove Ireland warms up for its big festival in June with Scot Project (Friday Sligo and Saturday, Carlow), Yoji (Friday, Belfast and Tyrone, Saturday) and Marco V (Tralee, Sunday) helping to flog those tickets, while Swedish pop-trancer Basshunter concludes his Irish tour.
Other visiting attractions include Groove Armada (DJ-ing at the Yellophonic session in Belfast on Monday), Carl Cox (Friday, Dublin), Dubfire (Saturday, Belfast), Miss Kittin and The Hacker (Sunday, Dublin) and the excellent Daedelus (Satuday, Dublin). Homegrown bashes worth your time and euro include: Pogo’s fourth birthday blow-out (Saturday, Dublin); An Taobh Tuathail marking 10 years on the radio with Halfset and Tiny Magnetic Pets (Friday, Galway); and a Fancy Pants Castle Party with Neosupervital and Today FM’s Donal Dineen (Saturday, Sligo).
Also recommended are: the all-day-and-night Sibín festival with more than 60 acts (Saturday, Dublin); Matthias Tanzmann gets Twitching (Saturday, Belfast); and DJs Dexter and Mujava go B-Live (Sunday, Dublin).
