Fri 04 Apr 2009Free music for China
Google has teamed up with the major labels to offer free music downloads in China. The search engine hopes to raise its profile by providing links to free downloads of up to 1.1 million songs. Several record companies, including Sony BMG, Universal, Warner and EMI, will make their catalogues free on a site which will be sustained by advertising. The labels hope the move will discourage illegal downloading.
