Leitrim sharper
ALLIANZ FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR: A GOAL in each half for Leitrim gave the western county full points against a wasteful Carlow at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.
A series of wides let the visitors off the hook and when Leitrim swept upfield in injury-time full forward James Glancy converted a 40-metre free to seal victory.
Leitrim secured the first major breakthrough on 14 minutes when Glancy’s pass found Ray Cox, who shot to the Carlow net to put his side 1-3 to 0-3 ahead.
Then on 51 minutes Ray Cox was fouled in the area and, from the resultant penalty, Glancy made it 2-7 to 0-10.
