Whelan makes it safe
COLLEGES GAA Coláiste Mhuire 2-12 Coláiste Íosagáin 1-08: THIS GAME was decided with 10 minutes remaining. With local side Coláiste Íosagáin trailing by five points, they were awarded a penalty for a rash challenge on corner forward Pádraig Kelly. Midfielder Dean Barron blazed wide and from the kick-out, Mullingar’s Coláiste Mhuire tore downfield for Dave Whelan to send over his third point and leave six separating the teams.
At half-time the Mullingar team led by 1-6 0-5, their goal coming from full forward Shane Dempsey.
The winners will now travel to Templeogue to face Coláiste Eoin in the quarter-final on Saturday week.
