Wexford players banned
GAA NEWS: TWO WEXFORD underage players have received lengthy bans following an assault on a local referee. Glynn-Barntown player Conor Coyne has been banished for 56 weeks and club-mate Michael Roche for 48 weeks.
Wexford Coiste na nÓg Board ordered their expulsions after considering the report of inter-county referee Seán Whelan, who the pair allegedly assaulted after their side had lost by a point to St Anne's in their county minor football championship semi-final at Killurin.
The bans start from the date of the game, Sunday, December 28th.
The Wexford County Board are determined to stamp out scenes of violence in their local championship games.
The Leinster Colleges senior football A championship game between St Mary's CBS, Carlow and St Benildus College, Kilmacud was postponed yesterday as the pitch in Dr Cullen Park in Carlow was unplayable.
