  • O'Sullivan fills Kerry full back spot for Armagh game

GAA/National Football League Team news: Kerry have handed the full back position to Tom O'Sullivan for Sunday's match against Armagh in Tralee in the concluding round of the National Football league. A win for either side could edge them into the semi-final round, although Armagh are far better positioned with two points more than Kerry, and with the superior points difference. p
  • Barrichello still a believer in Ferrari formula

FORMULA 1/Brazilian Grand Prix: Rubens Barrichello believes Ferrari's 2002 car is still good enough to push the under-performing team back into this year's world championship. The reigning world champions have yet to score a victory this season and have taken just one podium place in the opening two rounds of the title race, Barrichello claiming third in Malaysia a fortnight ago. p

News: Tensions between England and Turkey are likely to be further heightened after it emerged that the inquest into the murder of two Leeds United supporters in Istanbul three years ago will take place just before the countries meet in their final Euro 2004 qualifying match on October 11th. p
  • Rooney adds that extra dimension

Disciplinary decisions:  As if the last round of the National Football League wasn't intriguing enough the GAA's Games Administration Committee has added a further edge by deferring a final resolution to the long-running controversy surrounding the Kildare-Sligo game of February 9th. Any decision to replay the game will be made after Sunday's round of matches, where Kildare and Sligo still face a relegation battle. p

  • Logue's late strike seals title

WOMEN'S HOCKEY/Weekend preview: She's scored an important goal or two in her time but, for sheer drama, Mary Logue's equaliser against Loreto on Wednesday night, three minutes from the end of the title decider, would be hard to beat. The goal gave Hermes their third Leinster League title in a row, their fifth in six years, but they can hardly have had a more gratifying or hard-earned league success, considering the difficulties they faced this season. p
